The first fifteen smile design cases at Helios are founding cases. You receive the same work at a founding rate. In return, we ask to document it, with your written consent.
Veneers & smile design
Porcelain veneers and full smile design, planned digitally before touching your teeth. Minimal-prep and no-prep where the case allows. Every smile and every face is different, so each plan is drawn for one person.
Same-day ceramic crowns
Your crown is designed, milled and fitted in a single visit. You leave with the finished tooth, so there is nothing temporary to wear and nothing to come back for.
Implants & full-arch restoration
From a single tooth to a full arch. Jon’s two main focuses are cosmetic work and implant dentistry, and both are planned and carried out here.
Comprehensive exams & hygiene
A comprehensive examination with full-mouth X-rays and 3D imaging, smile photographs and scans, an oral cancer screening, and a plain conversation about what we find.
General & restorative care
Fillings, root canals, extractions and everyday dentistry. The aim is a dental home, where very little needs to be referred elsewhere.

We look
A comprehensive examination, full-mouth X-rays and 3D imaging, smile photographs, intraoral and facial scans, then a conversation in plain English about what we found and what it means for you. Allow about an hour.
We plan
Nothing is decided while you are lying down. You see what we saw, you hear the options, and you decide in your own time. Jon puts it as 90% planning, 10% execution.
We make
Ceramics are designed to a measurement and made here. When a front tooth is being replaced, the millimeters matter.

Dr. Jonathan PhenHailing from Florida originally, Jon is realizing his dream, practicing dentistry in Chicago.
Jon’s approach to dentistry is a holistic one. With a master’s in medical science, Jon knows how oral health is connected to the rest of your physiology.
He played piano competitively for twelve years, and it’s with this steady-handed focus Dr. Jon approaches his surgeries.

If there is something about your smile you have wanted to change for years, come and talk to us. You may not need veneers at all. There are several ways to change a smile, and Jon will tell you which one suits you.
If teeth have been missing for a while.
Many of the people Jon treats have gone years without seeing a dentist, or have been told there is nothing more to be done. There are nearly always options, and the first step is finding out which ones are open to you.
Timing matters with implants. Bone changes and teeth shift after a tooth is lost, so it helps to have a plan in place early, even if treatment comes later.

Helios is in the Chicago Loop, right beside the train station. Most of our patients work downtown, so they come in before the office or on the way home.

I have not been to a dentist in years. Is that a problem?
No. Many of the people Jon looks after have been away for a long time. We start with where you are now and plan forward from there.
What happens at a first appointment?
Allow about an hour. A comprehensive examination, full-mouth X-rays and a 3D scan, smile photographs, intraoral and facial scans, an oral cancer screening, and time on nutrition and how your mouth relates to the rest of your health. If you are asking about your smile, you also see a digital mockup of what is possible. You leave with a clear picture and time to think. If you would like treatment on the same day, allow an hour and a half.
Do you take insurance?
Helios is a fee-for-service practice and out of network with most insurers. We are adding two PPO plans. Whatever your plan, we check your benefits before treatment starts and handle the claim paperwork for you, so you know exactly where you stand.
Can I spread the cost?
Yes. We offer payment plans through Cherry and Sunbit, and we go through the options with you at your consultation, before anything is decided.
Can I really have a crown in one visit?
Yes. Crowns are designed and milled here while you wait, then fitted the same day. The same technology is used for some veneer cases.
I get anxious at the dentist.
Most people do. Jon explains everything before he does it, and you can stop at any point to ask a question. Nitrous (laughing gas) and oral sedation are available. Tell us when you book and we will plan the visit around it.
Do I need veneers to change my smile?
Not necessarily. There are several options, and the consultation is where Jon works out which one fits you.
